When are you in your "FLOW"?

We are all different. That's great news! This way we all bring something different to this world. At the same time, we all share the experience of 'being lost in something completely', 'feeling part of something larger'.

Do you remember anything in your life that you enjoyed doing and lost keeping track of time and just wanted to stay and doing your thing? That's in simple words: FLOW.

How did I come across this and why? I am the lucky or unlucky person ( depends how you look at it, I feel lucky) who was good in everything in school and I loved doing everything. I went to competition in physics, maths, biology, history, literature, languages, wrote poetry etc. When you operate like I do, you appreciate life, you enjoy your job and you love people around you.

I loved my job in the Commission but then something changed. I started to feel blocked as I wanted to help people grow and I felt stuck, so I went to see a coach for myself.

My coach was a lady who had Indian origins and to my surprise she recommended me the book: FLOW.

She said that she loved the way how positive psychology operates and she said that I must know the American author as he has Hungarian origins ( as I have). My husband tells me often that sooner or later in science you come across a Hungarian ;) So yes, it was Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.

Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi asks, "What makes a life worth living?" Noting that money cannot make us happy, he looks to those who find pleasure and lasting satisfaction in activities that bring about a state of "flow."

If you read him, it does change how you look at your life. It did change mine in 2011. I started to love what I could do and achieve.

I observed myself more and more, so became much more conscious about when I am in my flow and when I truly happy. Have you ever observed when you feel that you are in YOUR FLOW?

I can tell that from the moment on you find this, you won't envy anyone, you won't be jealous of anyone, you will just do regularly your thing and feel satisfied.

I have this for instance:

  • when I am teaching ( also in my work I do that),

  • when I am helping others to learn something and they succeed!!!- I will never ever forget all those happy people who came to me in my very different roles and jobs to give a feedback how much my knowledge, advice helped them in being where they got. This gives me so much happiness!,

  • when I am writing,

  • when I am speaking in front of public,

  • when I am swimming,

  • when I am cooking, baking and my husband or guests love what I made,

  • when I am dancing,

  • when I am listening to music etc...

It does not matter what it is, it is about what is this for you. Make your own list!!!!

Finding your 'thing'or 'things' will make you a happier person. Knowing that you are doing what you are came for will make you live a life you meant to. It will fill your heart with positive energies. Enjoy!
